Underwater Navigation - The Benefits:
Can you think of a dive where neutral buoyancy skills aren't important? The Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course will greatly enhance your comfort and safety for every dive, by improving ascents and descents, equipment trimming for streamline diving, and body positioning. Underwater navigation is an important skill no matter what type of scuba diving you’re doing. It’s especially useful when night diving, wreck diving or when you’re searching to recover a lost item underwater

Wreck Diver - Good navigation comes in very handy when diving on a wreck, because wrecks tend to have tight gangways and open passages that can be explored, and divers usually like to return to the ascent line to make a long safety stop. It also helps the diver to avoid potential hazards that are found on wrecks like fishing nets, sharp rusty metal, and collapsed structures.

Night Diver - Forgive me for stating the obvious, but night diving has limited visibility right ?
Therefore good navigation skills are very important for night diving to avoid colliding with underwater reefs and structures. Most night dives require a reciprocal dive to avoid the danger of moving boat traffic in the dark, so it's important to be able to find your way back to the exit point on a night dive.

Search and Recovery - As you may expect, if you're underwater searching for a lost object, it helps if you know how to make thorough search patterns. This specialty course develops the students skills to be able to search and recover all kinds of objects such as boat anchors, scuba gear and maybe even lost treasure.

PADI Master Scuba Diver - The PADI Underwater Navigator specialty course can be credited towards the highest rating in recreational diving, the Master Scuba Diver.
