Scuba Lessons For Beginners PADI Discover Scuba Diving in Pattaya

As you sign up for your first scuba experience in Pattaya you may be wondering what you will be doing under water. How difficult is it to breathe through a scuba regulator; Will the instructor take good care of me during my scuba lessons; Are we going deep; This trepidation is perfectly natural and you could consider that it's also part of the adventure. After all, if it was really easy and didn't need any tuition then maybe it would be boring and unexciting.

Private Scuba would like to take you on a 'virtual scuba dive' and highlight some of the basic scuba diving lessons that your PADI Instructor should be conducting with you on your Discover Scuba Diving Program. We will assume that you have completed the correct necessary documentation for this underwater scuba experience and we'll concentrate on actual scuba lessons prior to entering the water, while you are in shallow water and also when you are submerged in deeper water.

Scuba Diving Lesson 1: The Dive Briefing Before You Enter The Water

Your Scuba Instructor should give you a thorough briefing of these basic scuba guidelines and techniques before you get into the water. As well as informing you of the general safety concepts of scuba diving, the information also helps to answer many of the hidden fears that some learner divers' have if they haven't tried scuba before. I personally find that this thirty minute briefing about the equipment and correct diving techniques helps me to build a bond with my student. 'Trust' is one of the most important issues that I like to get from my diver before I get anywhere near the water. Generally, if my divers trust my judgement and knowledge then I'm more than confident that everyone will all enjoy the experience ..... including ME!

Scuba Diving Lesson 2: Confined Water Shallow Scuba Skills & Performance Requirements

  • Breathing Through a Scuba Regulator While Underwater
  • How to Clear Water from the Regulator
  • How to Recover the Regulator
  • How to Clear Water from the Mask
  • Clearsk & Regulator
  • How to Equalize the Body's Air Spaces
  • How to Inflate & Deflate the Buoyancy Device at the Surface

Your Scuba Instructor will help you with the equipment which will feel very heavy until you get into the water. It's always best to leave putting on the diving fins - flippers to most novices - until you are close to the water entry area. Having entered the water, you will practice some basic scuba skills in shallow water including the inflation & deflation of the BCD, proper breathing techniques for scuba diving, water clearing for the mask and regulator, equalization techniques and underwater communication skills. As the diver becomes more confident and comfortable in the water, the Instructor may take you a little deeper whilst monitoring your comfort level and your content gauges. This first scuba experience is usually conducted in calm, clear water and in a depth of 2 - 6 meters.

Scuba Diving Lesson 3: Optional Open Water Dive (maximum 12 meters)
Having completed all of the shallow water performance requirements comfortably, your Instructor may also guide you on an optional open water tour exploring more of the reef, to an absolute maximum depth of twelve meters (40 feet).

Scuba Diving Lesson 4: The Debriefing

  • How to Become a Certified Diver
  • The Discover Scuba Diving Recognition
  • The Discover Scuba Diving Registration with PADI & www.padi.com

The Dive debriefing is an important part of the Discover Scuba Experience. The Instructor will remind you of the limitations of this program and how you may be able to credit some or all of the scuba skills towards becoming a certified diver. Your underwater achievement is recognised by presenting you with a wall certificate of your diving success and also an official registration of your experience will be made with PADI. More information can always be found on the PADI Website.
