The really "cool" part:
Unlike a scuba wetsuit, a dry suit seals the diver from the cold water outide which helps to keep you warm when diving in a cold water environment. Even when diving in extremely cold water, such as underneath the ice, or diving in the Northern European winters, a dry suit will allow the diver to meet the challenge. Other dive sites where a dry suit may be appropriate would include inland dive sites, such as quarries, lakes, sinkholes and caves.
The dry suit diver is equipped to explore some of the cooler dive sites around the world, where even using a 7mm wetsuit would not be possible. The Dry Suit Diver course requires a confined water dry suit training session for divers who have never used a dry suit before, to orient the diver to dry suit diving, prior to making the two dry suit dives in the open water environment.

PADI Dry Suit Diver Course - prerequisites:
PADI Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another organisation)
(minimum age: 10 years old)

Dry Suit Diver - The Benefits:
Scuba diving with a dry suit is useful when diving many types of dive sites. A dry suit is necessary when ice diving and sometimes while altitude diving. Many technical divers wear dry suits on almost every dive due to the length of the time spent underwater. The longer the diver is in the water, the more thermal protection is required.
