The first step in a PADI Scuba Diving Career is to become a Divemaster. If you're looking to expand your dive knowledge and improve your diving skills, Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities. Working closely with your PADI Instructor, the Divemaster programme also qualifies you to supervise some diving activities, allows you to assist instructors with student divers, and it's the pre-requisite certification to the Assistant Instructor and/or PADI Instructor.

What will I learn ?
The PADI Divemaster programme combines classroom tuition and independent study to enhance your leadership skills. The water skills, stamina exercises and training exercises, stretch your ability to organise and solve problems, while helping student divers to improve their scuba. The Divemaster course can be completed through a structured internship or a series of practical training exercises.
How long does it take to become a PADI Divemaster ?
This varies depending on the student's experience and previous certifications though we would suggest that it could take typically somewhere between ten and twenty one days.

Do I need any extra study materials or dive equipment ?
The study materials required for the course, are excluded from the price* however the PADI Divemaster crewpack is available from the Dive Center, and includes all of the training materials that are required for the Divemaster course, and would include:
- PADI Instructor Manual
- Recreational Dive Planner eRDPml
- The Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving - a comprehensive overview of diving physics, physiology, and equipment
- The Diving Knowledge Workbook – a self-study guide used in preparation for the Divemaster and Instructor exams
- Divemaster diving slates
- Divemaster Manual and CD-ROM with instructor outlines for Divemaster programmes
- Hologram Decal for Divemaster Application
**Please note that use of Scuba Equipment, and PADI Divemaster Membership Fees are not included in the price.
Some of the diving activities that a Divemaster can teach !
- Supervise activities by planning, organizing and directing dives
- Assist a PADI Instructor during training sessions for any PADI Diver course
- Conduct the PADI Skin Diver course and PADI Discover Snorkeling program
- Conduct the PADI Discover Local Diving experience
- Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program (for certified divers)
- Independently conduct the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program (if DSD Leader)
- Teach the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer specialty (after qualifying)
- Accompany students during Adventure Dives or under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
- Conduct the PADI Seal Team AquaMission
- Conduct subsequent dives under an instructor’s indirect supervision for Discover Scuba Diving participants after participants have satisfactorily completed the first dive with a PADI Instructor
- Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing an EFR Instructor course
What options are available to a PADI Divemaster ?
As a PADI Divemaster, you're at the start of the professional level, with sharp rescue skills, enhanced specialty qualifications and at least 60 logged scuba dives. Divemasters have superior preparation for becoming a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor.
